And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 (ESV)
We spend a great deal of our lives pursuing happiness, never really fully capturing that elusive feeling for ourselves. We hope for happiness for our children and ones we love, never sure we have given them the tools to acquire this blessed state.
We welcome you to the end of that fruitless search. However, you will not find this fruition in us. Our organization does not lift itself up as a place of happiness. Our congregation is not a surrogate home that will bring you the tools to finally find happiness.
We are a church. We are people called and gathered by God’s Holy Spirit for the expressed purpose of preaching Jesus Christ. We proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Only in HIM, is there peace, finally. For when Christ Jesus comes to be your Lord, He comes to take from you all your longings and desires which are never satisfied and instead give you Himself. In Jesus you are gifted with peace; peace with God and finally peace with yourself, from yourself. We are our own worst enemies, constantly taking to heart every criticism spoken from without and within.
Therefore, we will never find peace with God and (therefore) peace with ourselves until the Holy Spirit comes to gift us with new hearts and minds that find their life within the Word of promise that God speaks to us in Jesus.
We welcome you to join us for the public proclamation of the peace of God to any and all who are gathered to hear it. We welcome you to join with us, ourselves former searchers of happiness in all the wrong places, to hear of the peace that surpasses all understanding. We welcome you to come and hear God’s Word and in hearing, have your hearts and minds guarded from all the attacks of unhappiness that this world subjects us to.
We welcome you to experience peace.
