Confirmation
At First English Lutheran Church we have Confirmation for students in 7th and 8th grades, along with those older students who have not completed instruction. This takes place on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. during the school year.
Confirmation is a time of continued teaching and preaching of the Word of God that encourages, admonishes, and exhorts the faith promised and given in Baptism. We teach especially from Luther's Small Catechism and the Holy Scriptures during this time - as we learn what God has done, is doing, and has promised to us in Jesus Christ.

A person who is confirmed in the Christian faith at another Lutheran congregation can be received as a confirmed member at FELC through a letter of transfer. Youth who complete instruction in 7th and 8th grade at FELC will also be conferred the status of confirmed member. Adults who complete a period of instruction offered at FELC will also receive the status of confirmed member. Members who are confirmed are able to serve in the role of elected leadership within the congregation.
Instruction
Confirmation instruction for our 7th and 8th grade students takes place over the course of two years. The basics of our Christian faith are taught: the 10 Commandments, the Apostles' Creed, the Sacraments, the Lord's Prayer, and Bible. We teach especially from Luther's Small Catechism. Confirmation classes run through the school year from September through May. Following the completion of this instruction, participants are received as confirmed members in the Rite of Confirmation.
Adult Instruction
For adults who transfer to FELC, a shorter catechetical period of instruction will be offered to them. This will then offer them the opportunity to become confirmed members of FELC.
