Funerals
"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?' She said to him, 'Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming into the world (John 11:25-27).'"
The promise of resurrection from the dead, bestowed by Jesus Christ, gives comfort to family and friends in grief. Death is a power that we cannot overcome, and so the loss of a loved one can leave us without hope. In Jesus Christ, however, God conquers death and gives us hope and joy so we do not mourn without hope, but rejoice even in sadness.
